Crucial Factors That Impact Your Child’s Learning
Why revision alone isn’t enough for exam success...

Does your child find it hard to balance everything during exam season?
Or does your child seem burnt out in the lead up to exams?
Or perhaps your child is spending so much time revising, yet they still don’t seem fully prepared?
Here at Spark, we believe that JUST simply revising isn’t the only thing that will help your child be successful in their exams!
Having recently sat them ourselves, we understand the difficulty of keeping up a healthy routine in the lead up to exams…
We are here to share additional factors we believe to be equally as VITAL as revision when preparing for and sitting exams!
Adequate Sleep:
Sleep is CRUCIAL for memory consolidation, focus and emotional regulation. Without enough rest, the brain doesn’t function properly which can ultimately reduce your ability to recall information and stay calm under pressure!
Healthy Eating:
What you eat directly affects your brain function and energy levels. In addition, avoiding excess sugar/salt shortly before exams is recommended as it can prevent energy crashes.
Regular Exercise:
Exercise boosts blood flow to the brain, improving concentration and memory. It also reduces stress, releases endorphins and enhances your mood, all of which can help your child stay focused and motivated during the revision period.
Breaks & Downtime:
Taking regular breaks helps prevent you from getting burnout and keeps your brain fresh. Studying for long periods without rest isn’t beneficial - breaks allow you to recharge and come back with better focus and energy!
Avoid Excess Revision:
Over-studying can lead to mental exhaustion and burnout, decreasing productivity and effectiveness. It's essential to find a balance between revision and relaxing to avoid hitting a cognitive limit that inhibits progress. Try and find time to see friends, watch TV, maintain hobbies etc...
It’s all about finding the right balance to stay focused, healthy and productive throughout the revision process AND exam season!
